Years ago (1990ish) I joined the Slant Six club, at the time Jack Pohler(SP?) was in charge of the magazine. Is this a porduct of that club? I see some old names, but not the famous logo. Is that club still around? Scott IP: Logged |

I think a lot of the people here were in the SSCOA. However, the club technically still exists, but Jack is not publishing the magazine any longer, and there are only local chapters left. ![]() IP: Logged |

Thats too bad. I enjoyed the club. I went to several meets and used to talk to Jack and a few other regularly. (what was the guys name that owned Wildcat Mountain Autowreckers?) Scott IP: Logged |

Hi Scott. There was a slant six meet last June at Steele Lake in Federal Way, and another in Bothel in September. Yes, Jack is still active, no, no plans from him to do the magazine. He was supposed to have some guy in SoCal do the mag, but health or money or some other problems have prevented him from doing this. I was going to join myself, but if I don't get something for it, I won't. Can't remember the guy who runs Wildcat, but he does have a web site. Get in touch with Reed on this board, he knows much more than I about the club. Take care, and welcome to the board! These guys here are all family to me and are always willing to help! Yup. The story form Jack is that he sold the club and all its assests (back issues, copyrights, savings accounts etc...) to a fellow in Southern California. The guy who bought it all has had possession of the materials since at least early 2000 but has not made any noises indicating that he will be reviving the club. Too bad. Lots of good info came from that club. However, I knwo that there are still many local chapters (including the Seattle chapter) which get together and have meets. I still get flyers form the Seattle chapter Rep whenever they hold one of their bi-annual meets. If I get one next spring I will post the details. Reed IP: Logged |

I am glad to have all the info now. My Father-in-law used to work for the print shop that printed the mag, I used to get copies even after I left Salem. I am now up in the Tacoma Area and would love to get together with some of the other /6 nuts. It feels good to be back with the Mopar guys. Scott IP: Logged |

Jack Poehler, because of health reasons, was looking for someone to take over the publishing of the 'Slant 6 News', the official magazine of the Slant 6 Club of America. He found someone named Jeff who lived in Southern CA. Jeff visited Jack in Salem and took away several boxes and trunks with club information, including all the material for the next issue. Then Jeff dissappeared. Jack was in constant contact with Jeff until he simply stopped returning phone calls. I contacted Jack during this time and offered to help out but I had no better luck in finding Jeff. I offered to help Jack and take over the publishing of the 'Slant 6 News' and helping run the club. Jack is still very active with the local chapter in Oregon and other chapters are still very strong. They just need the 'Slant 6 News' to bind them together. Without the material that has dissappeared putting together the next issue is proving difficult but I've promised Jack an issue will be ready for mailing in the spring. Rumors of the death of the Slant 6 Club of America have been premature. By the end of 2003 the club will be back in full force and as strong as ever. Anyone wishing to help and supply some material for the next issue or join the club can contact me at valiantsignet@earthlink.net or snail mail to Tom Shook, 2121 Seaport Circle, #103, Winter Park, FL 32792. We're still here, the old 'NY/NJ Chapter' of the 'Slant-Six Club of America' has evolved into an independent Club called the 'NY/NJ Slant-Six Club of America.' Check us out at http://clubs.hemmings.com/nynjslant6. Unfortunately, at least based on what Jack told me, it is highly unlikely that the guy from California will revive the National Club. ------------------ IP: Logged |

It is highly unlikely that the guy from Califorina will ever revive the National club. But there is a guy in Florida who is working very hard right now to revive the National club. I will have a spring issue of the Slant 6 News ready for mailing to all club members hopefully in March. Watch for it. IP: Logged |

Hello Scott, Ed Yost is the guy at Wildcat Mtn. Just looked at my last Slant Six News. Yes, I miss Jack and joined this group to find out what happened to the SSCOA. Kind of lost interest when the magazines quit coming. Best of luck to you Tom. I will join/renew. Is Dave Layson on this group? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yea, thats cool. I loved the old mags, but when they stopped, I was bummed. I used to have almost all of the issues, but loaned them to a friend and never got them back. Dave Layson is here I think, so are several of the other SSCers. I however no longer own any slant sixes, however one of my Wagons is a Mopar, but its a 400. My truck is a 318(Dodge CC) ------------------ IP: Logged |

Um Justin, try again, but make sure you type the whole URL in as follows: http://clubs.hemmings.com/nynjslant6 . I just tried our URL that way, and it went right to the Club Website. If you still have problems getting to our site, drop me a note, and I'll try sending you the hyper link directly. ------------------ IP: Logged |
